don't know about dodges but on fords there's an electric solenoid that has to be energized to release the shifter.  used to be a mechanical lever when you put the brake on it released it.  now they're going to electronics.  you could look for a blown fuse but  I couldn't tell  you what circuit it was on.  had a couple fords do the same thing this winter.  had to put new solenoids in.

I had that problem on my 04 Ford and it turned out to be a hydralic leak in the break booster.  Also noticed that the cruise wouldn't shut off with just a tap.  Had to really get on the brakes before it would turn off.  Couldn't figure it out until I was vacuuming and noticed oil on the front of the floor mat.

I have seen this on a late 90s or maybe early 2000s dodge truck before.  The tranny gets caught in a bind and won't shift out of park.  Perhaps up against a curb, or in my case, sinking in a northern MN fen.

If you can get someone else to try the shifter, get behind the truck and rock it really hard.  If the tranny is in a bind your goal is to simply relieve the pressure and it will shift out of park.

That's the only time I have ever had a vehicle locked in park.

HIJACK ALERT

So, we just received this "Big Buck Hunter" deal for our WII.  Could be loads of fun except the POI is five feet below the LOS.  WTF?!!  I can't find an adjustment within the gun or instructions.  Do I have to live with this?!!  It's like launching a grenade from an M-79/203 at a partridge.  This game could be outstanding fun as the "rifle" is of suitable length for practical shooting; especially for a youth.

Rock the truck and slam it into park.  You may need to let a little air out of the front tires.

If you need to give me a call 701-880-9965   Jordan.   If not, call your insurance and put full coverage on it tonight, ill come over with a can of gas and a match. We will figure it out one way or another!
