Lansky for a Basket case.  Ceramic sticks for a touch up.  A steel early and often is a good thing as well.  A leather strop if'n you wanna show off, win friends, and influence people.

If you're close to Minot, taking them to Wally's would be the faster and easier you're looking for.  He also sets up a booth @ the Fargo gun show in Jan.

Agree..........  I found a small, about 4 inch or so, at an end display in Cabelas about a month ago.   It turned out to be of very high quality.  Used it on everything in sight then finshed off with the sticks.  When I go back I am going to buy a couple more for stocking stuffers.

I do one hell of a job sharpening knives for beer or GOOD cabernet.  In Minot.  PM if interested.  Cab goes better through mail.

Don't let them get too dull.  My bro gave me a two stage electric a few years ago.  It works good, but you have to be careful not to take off too much metal.  Finish off with a ceramic.

They'll all work.  I wouldn't use any of them though.

S30V is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  Folks would lead you to believe that CPM 154, ATS 34, and D2 can hang.  They can't.

I bought a Chefs Choice #120 electric diamond hone sharpener a few years ago and I'd throw all my Lansky junk away if I could still find it. The Chefs Choice is expensive but well worth the money. Easy to use, does a great job and will sharpen serrated blades as well as regular blades. Works great on electric fillet knife blades, keeps them as sharp as new.

That'd be key!  Ceramic sticks and/or a steel can seem magic if you only have to straighten up an edge.

Overheating and putting a snafu on the temper also rates a thunk as you're cyphering your sharpening tempo.

An old Lansky that I originally bought in Sioux Sporting Goods (anyone remember that store?) back in the early 80's.
