That would suck!!! I wonder how long that dude ran after that thing, looked pretty tuckered out. Lord know's how easy it is to run if full winter gear pack boots and all.

Reminds me of a time on Devil's Lake about 20yrs or so back we were sitting in my buddies permant on a real windy day, we're talkin 30 to 40 mph wind, and not much if any snow on real smooth ice. Suddenly we heard this strange rumbling sound so we looked out the window in time to see a good old trusty 4x8 blue tarp portable go sliding by with a guy inside hangin on for dear life!!! We laughed so hard we started crying. He finally stopped probably a 1/4 mile away and his buddy came drivin by with the pickup and they hauled it back and set her back up and this time tied it to the pickup.  I will never forget that as long as I live.
I guess my definition of change just ain't the same!

We were on Audubon one time in an old camper and the wind came up in the middle of the night and blew us around.  We ended up about 30 or so feet away from the pickup.

Hey, this is a good topic.
What does everybody use to anchor their fishouses?
To be honest I'm a fairweather fisherman and so far have never been out when there's enough wind to have to anchor a portable other than to tie it to a pickup.
Do those screw in things work?

Wow that could have been me,  first time I took out my homemade 4x8 portable was on Devils Lake in high winds, glare ice.  We had a similar incident and ended up tying it to the Pickup for the rest of the day.   Would have been like in 1988. Good times, cinnamon schnapps and perch.

LOL 30-40 mph winds is just an average day on the ice.  I use no less than 4 screw anchors at all times.  This past weekend I lost 3 tip ups in the wind.  The stay good until the flag goes up.  Then they blow away if the fish gets off.  Your can't use the circle shaped ones here unless you want to shoot trap.  When it's ove 50 I skip the ice house.  Watched Nikkis blow away in 100 mph winds last year.  It was like the wizzard of oz.  It blew the 4 wheeler around a bit this weekend.  I just hate how it melts the top a bit and gets damn slick.
Dead animals don't need fur anyway!!!!!!!!!!
