Cracked stock on Ruger .375 African, any advice?

Unfortunately I am 10 days out from my hunt in Zim and just cracked the rifle stock on my Ruger MKII Hawkeye .375 African (wood stock) right behind the safety tang and extending into my palm grip.

I am in need of urgent repairs (or maybe I should say replacement) and was looking at the Hogue stocks from Cabelas. They list that the overmolded stocks with full length bedding blocks fit the long action such as the 30-06 but will it work for the .375 african barrel? Is the .375 a bigger barrel than the standard LA? Also, if the barrel does fit do the hogues drop in nicely or do they need to be custom fitted and trimmed around the trigger tang and safety tang?

Has anybody had this happen to them and does Ruger back this sort of problem for the wood stock? Only problem with Ruger is I dont have time to send the gun to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

With these time constraint's, I believe I'd look into adhesive.

That sucks.
I would be on the phone with Ruger first thing this morning. They have great customer service - explain your situation and see what they'll do.

I know you would love to use your own gun, but if you cannot get it fixed, don't most of these African outfitters supply a gun if you wanted, I know I have heard of this before.

In roughly this order I'd call:  Ruger, Mcmillan, HS Precision, Bell and Carlson, and Brown Precision.  Possibly maybe one of them will have something ready to go.

You have to replace it.  No repair will work.  Had a friend try to get it fixed before his once in a life time elk hunt and never shot it until on the trip a week later.  Missed three monster bulls.......Finally he told us what happened.  I let him shot mine after we found out and he never saw another bull.

Pigsticker,  I have a Weatherby Mark V in 340 wby mag I'd let you borrow.  If that meets the minimum caliber requirements.  I will be in Devils Lake next weekend and could meet you along the way with loaded ammo. (200 grain Nosler BT's), it has a Swarovski  3x9 on top and a McMillan stock that I replaced since the wood stock broke on an elk trip to Colorado.

Wow! That is one heck of an offer and greatly appreciated but unfortunately they wont allow anything under the .375 minimum caliber for dangerous game. Sounds like a fun gun to shoot though!

As for Ruger, got off the phone and they said they would allow me to send it in to see if its a warranty issue. Said it would take them about a work week to look at it and get it turned around. Add in shipping days and my rifle would make it to my doorstep a day or two after my departure. They told me that Hogue does infact make a replacement drop in for this rifle so I guess i'll have to call them. Not sure im gonna like the rubber but I guess I'll try anything at this point. If they dont have it then maybe McMillan like Horsager suggested.

If you are not used/don't like the feel of the overmolded stocks, I would reccomend that you don't drop your action in one to hunt dangerous game. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Sucky deal all the way around but atleast it happened now and not on your trip!

drill the stock with 3/16 bit on both ends of the crack use acraglass on the dowels and while you are doing it drill horz under the crack and put the dowel in there first saw off the extra and walnut stain it and go hunting.

Kepp in mind I really dont need anything for the stock... I kept it around after I got rid of the 300 Win that once occupied the thing.
