Boston takes the cup!

Boston takes the cup as Vancouver melted down on the ice and in the streets.

Why is it every time a Canadian team loses the cup or even wins, they have to riot in the streets.

Either way it was a great game, glad to see Boston take it fo sho. Lots of shots and scoring chances for both, and lots of hard hits makes a great game.

Was nice to see the refs not interfere with the game too much.  But when the Canuck blindsided that guy in the 3rd and put him down hard, that should have been called.  Then there was a penalty called against Boston that wasn't even a penalty, so the refs did try a little to help the Canucks.  Gotta love big Tim Thomas.  And yes, why does Canada revert to a 3rd world country after events like this?

I watched the replay a few times, IMO that was a blind collision for both of them.  They were both watching the puck coming into the zone and just ran into each other.  I thought it was a good non-call.

I'm as happy as can be to keep the cup in the US.  I'll root for anyone but Canada.

How about TT being interviewed right after the game coming right out and saying that he told Luongo he believes he's a great goalie.  Class act vs. that slick haired SOB.

That was sure what it looked like on the F*ckin replay , but I promise you that was not blind, you could see it coming from a mile away that he was gonna hit the sitting duck. all he did was line up and look towards the puck just before he hit him to make it look that way.

btw the dude he plowed was 6'9"  pretty dam sure that was an interference call right there, or even a charge. they didn't want him on the ice.

Thomas was unbelievable. Great performance.

Also, most of the idiots looting in Vancouver were probably not true hockey fans. Just the local idiots looking for an excuse to act that way. It does look bad however.

Glad to see Boston wipe the cocky smirk off the Canucks' faces.  I really can't stand Burrows or Torres and was happy to see them lose.  Tim Thomas was great the entire series, and seems like a genuinely good guy.  I love seeing former US college hockey players succeed.

Horsager, I disagree about the blind side hit.  It looked to me like he left his feet.  To me, if you leave your feet at all in open ice, it's a penalty every time.

Vancouver certainly doesn't have exclusivity regarding "stupid", they do seem well practiced however.

Had the bruins been playing ANY team in the us, or even eastern canada for that matter, i would not have been rooting for them. boston sports fans have been spoiled as crap over the last decade and carry an attitude with them much like yankee fans!  with the one exception of the incredible tim thomas.

that being said i cant wait to hit up a couple winnipeg games next season!  I was pretty surprised to hear the thrashers got the nod instead of phoenix- thrashers actually have a pretty legit team moving into winnipeg. anybody hearing anything on the new franchise name?

The NHL owns the Jets name because they own the franchise and they are willing to sell it (the name).  They would have sold the franchise too but wanted to keep it in Phoenix.

You should be able to get tickets to game in Winnipeg after some things get sorted out.  I believe that all 12,000 seats are sold to season ticket holders and the waiting list is over 12,000 long.  A significant portion of the season tickets were sold to ticket brokers and that sucks big time.  There will be a bit of uncertainty until the market sorts that whole situation out.  There might be som esignificant scalping going on so don't get too excited yet.

I agree Horsager, but a Canadian gal where I worked pointed something out to me.  The Boston team is almost all Canadians with only 3 Americans on it.  the Vancover team has 5 American's on it, some Europeans, and the rest Canadians.

BUT...  I pointed out to her the STAR of the entire tourney was an American named TIM THOMAS!!!

The Stanley Cup Finals were some of the most entertaining hockey games I have ever seen. Coming into the Finals I thought Vancouver was more talented, so It made me want Boston to win it even more. ( underdog and American).  107 days to go till UND is on ice. Time to enjoy the summer, if we have one. Did you notice when they announced Thomas as the MVP the commentator mentioned that last year's winner came from college hockey too? Jonathon Toews- University of North Dakota. It was nice to hear the acknowledgement.

A US based team holds the cup, I don't give a damn where the players are from.

If the entire U of M hockey team was made up of players from ND, I'd still root for UND.

I have a general disdain for nearly everything east of the Mississippi but I'd still rather that the cup reside with any team South of the 49th.

When the new hockey season starts next week, I wonder who is gonna be the front runner for the cup. LOL Longest season in all of sports, starts before ice is on the ponds, and finishes long after ice out. How do they walk on water?
