Big Stone Lake - Sunday, June 27, 2010

Report Details
The fishing on Big Stone Lake has remained fairly constant
this past week with even a few surprises over the weekend....
perch!

The weeds have come to the surface on the south end of the
lake and so the anglers are having to work the edges of the
weeds or troll the deeper water in the main part of the lake.
Favorite location has been working from the Twin Silos south
to Manhattan Island and then over to the MN side from
the public access on the northern edge of Big Stone State
Park toward Lou's Point.

Trolling remains the favorite method using bottom bouncer/
spinner/crawlers we are seeing some nice walleye in the 20
inch plus range and plenty of smaller fish as well.

By pulling crankbaits, anglers have seen walleyes but also
some nice perch. Saturday there were several fishermen getting
10-12 inch perch in the 10-12 inch range by pulling crankbaits...yes,
crankbaits. The favorite color was a black and silver shad rap.

The past stormy weather missed the lake and next weeks forecast
looks stable so setting the hook on some nice fish should continue
to be good.
