Big Stone Lake - Monday, September 6, 2010
Report Details
The fishing (and catching) on Big Stone Lake has remained veryconsistent this past week. The perch bite is definitely on! Anglers
are easily getting their limits of 25 (daily and possession) very nice
fish.
The methods have varied depending on the weather, the wind,
and the angler. However, bottom bouncer/spinner/crawler presentation
is still the most popular. There are more and more boats anchoring up on
points and rock piles and get their fish by light jigging over the side of
the boat.
Crawlers and minnows have been the favorite bait of anglers, thou some
are requesting spikes or waxworms. Seems the key is to find the schools
of perch and then it does not matter what you throw over the side of the boat,
they bite.
Favorite locations this past Labor Day weekend remained in the Schmidts Landing
area north to Shady Beach on the SD side. By the end of the weekend anglers reported getting their fish in the same area but on the MN side working points. Move around, move
around till you set the hook on them!
If history holds true, the perch bite should remain strong through September.
See you on the lake,
Donna
