Big Stone Lake - Monday, June 21, 2010
Report Details
The week started strong with a good bite andovercast, but fishable weather. The walleyes
continue to bite on the bottom bouncer/spinner/crawler
combination pulled over the top of the weed beds or
on the outside edge. Pulling crankbaits has also been
a good method for many. Casting shad raps into the
weed beds was also productive, but cumbersome,
pulling off weeds more than bringing in fish.
The weather pattern changed Wednesday and no one
was eager to get out on the lake with 25-30 mph winds
on Thursday and Friday.
Saturday turned out to be a great day. There was a lot of
boating activity as well as fishing on the lake. A local tournament
was held out of Hartford Beach State Park. One team shared
that the winning catch was at 17 pounds which included a nice
7 pound walleye. The top weights came from the south end
of the lake or the far north end in very shallow water.
Anglers continue to set the hook on a plentiful supply of white bass,
an occassional northern and even some perch while fishing for
walleye. Overall, the fishing remains good on Big Stone Lake ~
just get out there.
